It amazes me how some people fail to understand the difference between having a conversation with their mates down the pub and posting on a public message board.

      Unbelievable isn’t it?

Oh, and while you’re on. That rash has come back, so if you still have some of your ointment left, can I borrow it again? Thanks
Sorry to hear that. If it’s come back you’ll need to use stronger stuff than what I gave you last; one with more heroin in it. Go to Smiths Pharmacy, 232 Scot Lane, Newtown, Wigan, wait until the shop’s empty, ask for Joe and he’ll give you some from under the counter. Keep it to yourself though.

Been told one lad as been arrested don’t know his name but he is apparently 15 years old gobshite

The Daily Mail haven’t done these lads any favours with their photo have they?! And I reckon there’s not a legally bought alcoholic drink or even a driving license amongst ’em.

Why am I not surprised? Kids attempting to impress other kids.

I know there is a lot of speculation about Jimmy Mac leaving but I have a theory that he wants the chance at winning the charity shield before he pushes for a departure.

I would love him to stay and I know it’s only talk but my Missus (I was at work) was impressed with how sincere he sounded about staying together to get back in the PL during the town centre parade. However, if we are offered 15m that would be good for the club and we do have a wealth of talent in the midfield so we could afford to lose him for the greater good.

No one seems to mention him, but Fraser Fyvie really impressed me in the short time he had on the Aston Villa game at the end of the season. Based on what I had seen earlier in the season he appeared to have come on leaps and bounds and looked like he had some real class (yes it was only 30 minutes).

            Does anyone agree?

Regardless of how important McCarthy considers it to be I can’t for the life of me see how a desire to play in the charity shield would hold sway over some lucrative offer to play in the Premiership.

I would hazard a guess and say that any offers thus far have either not met the club’s valuation and/or not been of significant interest to unsettle the player.

As for having a ready replacement in Fyvie, I’ve not yet seen anything from him that would suggest he’s anywhere near as good as McCarthy.

He scored a great goal at Fulham!

What’s that saying again, “He scores great goals but he’s not a great goal scorer”.

Doesn’t matter – it’s still a recognised trophy even if it is down the pecking order.
And don’t kid yourself about our greatest honour – in a few years most people won’t remember that we won the FA Cup. Some have already forgotten.

You’re not seriously suggesting winning the FA Cup isn’t our greatest honour? And if we should happen to win the Charity Shield that would be a greater honour?

Michael J Quinn, im sure he netted in each of his first 5 games if my memory serves me well.

I think you’re referring to Tony Quinn but I’m not sure if he scored on his debut.
No Sammy im referring to Mickey Quinn possibly the best striker to wear the shirt.
Tony Quinn did score in five consecutive league games. I’m sure Micky Quinn never did that.

                      hope Martinez was watching

I hope Martinez was watching too and with a certain amount of pride that the club and team he left us with is in good shape, playing the style of football he introduced.

Martinez reckoned that he left us in good shape when he jumped ship , yet he continues to raid our club for our best players ! If he had any respect for our club and it’s fans it’s about time he left us alone ! !

Players move on and it remains to be seen if the likes of McCarthy and Maloney will still be here come the end of the month. The difference is that thanks to Martinez and Whelan the club is in a position where it does not have to sell those players. Should it happen to be Everton who meet the club’s valuation then that’s where they’ll end up.

For the players that have already left they would have gone anyway regardless of who was manager so I can’t see what point you are trying to make.

If I was you I’d just make sure I was more towards the front of the stand as they tend to be set off towards the back. Instead of reporting those doing it just accept it, enjoy the atmosphere and like they do support the club in your own way.

I should think they will sell out 10k for their first trip to new Wembley FFS!

Is that apart from their victory there in 2011 – y’know – the day you had to change your kick-off against QPR?
We didn’t have to change anything. It was Whelan who said he wanted the kick-off time arranged so as not to clash with the rugby so those in the town who wanted to watch both could do just that. That same thinking will result in a change to the kick off time for the Middlesboro game.

If you adopt a cynical view you could argue that by changing the KO time Whelan will protect himself against any football versus rugby flack that would certainly have come his way had he chosen not to do so.

Hope he finds a new club and comes down to our gaff this season so I can make a point of booing him til my lungs bleed.

An honourable action I suppose but doubt it would unduly bother Mr King and be inadvisable for you.

Harry’s was a broken ankle I believe and folklore will tell you it had to be sewn back on to the bottom of his leg for him to carry on.
