It’s not the cost that stops me going, it’s the fact that I’m not interested in it, but if either of my two lads wanted to go, I’d take them.
Thankfully though, they both play Union and want to go to a Sale Sharks game.
There is a thought. Where do you buy Hull shirts?
And that’s why they probably won’t do it – and it works both ways.
There are rugby fans on Twitter saying they are going to buy tickets for the Rochdale end and turn up with Wigan RL flags.
All bravado behind a keyboard – unless the tickets are free, can you really see any Wigan RL fan forking out £20 to watch a sport they claim to hate just so they can wind up some football fans with a Wigan RL flag??
I doubt it will happen. But it would confirm my opinion that there are some seriously bitter and sad cases out there if it did.

There are some fantastic comments on the Cherry & White forum as a result of this fixture change.
Pick of the bunch is from someone called Anglesey Warrior:
‘One very simplistic solution (I’m a simple man!) – why don’t Wigan Warriors buy the ground off Latics? As far as I am aware, Welan gave the ground to Latics (could be wrong) so it would be a nice cheque for them! We could then call the shots about who could play when’
You do know that you butted in and answered your own question don’t you?
Jees donny & bullit. Last few weeks have seen some brilliant performances with results to boot. One bad performance & suddenly its the play-offs again.
Look if we get promoted, so be it.
If its the play-offs, so be it.
If we do neither & its league 1 football again next season, so be it.Well i just hope the gaffer and players are not thinking this way, we’ve gone from automatic promotion to play offs now we are talking playing in League 1 again next season.
Lets just throw the towel in now and go for a mid table finish, the squad we have and playing to our potential we should be well capable of holding our own in the Championship the hard bit is getting there, GC needs to get tough and stop trying to keep everyone happy, he should know his first eleven by now, its up to the players to prove they are worth a start when given the chance!
On another note, i noticed John Sheridan never stopped organising his team on Saturday, shouting encouragement and talking to his players at every opportunity while Caldwell stood with his hands in his jacket pockets looking lost….Cue Barrow!
I’m guessing the running of man-management training courses isn’t your fulltime profession!People were up in arms last week when he didn’t pick Wabara, but we won two-nil. So this week when he put him back in the team people are asking why he’d changed a winning side.
Also, McAleny had a good game last week and scored, but Caldwell was criticised when he kept him in the side instead of Vuckic – who people have criticised for wasting too many chances in previous games!
Caldwell was constantly shouting at the players on Saturday and I watched and heard him roasting – amongst others – Wildschut, McAleny, and Power.
And…something I’ve never seen before, a piece of paper was even handed from the touchline at one point – which the players passed amongst themselves. So unless it was note asking for contributions towards Graham Barrow’s birthday present, I’m guessing it was a tactical message.
Just because Caldwell isn’t waving his arms around and leaping David Pleat-like down the touchline, don’t think he isn’t issuing instructions or changing things.
Disgusting? What a stupid word to use. We had 4 home games on the bounce where we scored 3. Today was an off day. Disappointing yes. Below par yes. But disgusting? What a pathetic over reaction.
Perhaps one of those who thought it necessary to boo at the final whistle.
The booing at full time was an utter disgrace, as was the booing for McAleny on his home debut when he decided to pass back to the keeper rather than hitting it forwards in hope and giving the ball away.Moronic.
We don’t splash the cash though Donny as 99.9% of our squad comes through the academy .
No they don’t.
99.8 then ;)
52% of last Friday’s team came through the academy…..
I say keep them in.
If they moved out who would everyone blame next time the pitch turned into a swamp?
Interesting point that JJ is acting as spokesman about relaying the pitch.
Shared? No – it’s Latics who are putting up the money.
Do you have an official link to that fact, or are you assuming because JJ was interviewed, then Latics have put up the money?
Does the cost of pitch relaying or ground maintenance feature in the Latics Annual Accounts?
I agree that the pitch is a mess, but as Egg has said, its the location – Huddersfield & Hull play as many league games on their pitch without it turning into a mud bath every February. In fact, when you were premier league, there would have been 7-8 less games played on it at this time of year and it still always looked shite.
I read somewhere that there is a giant septic tank under the pitch that would have been costly to remove at the time of construction, so DW went for the cheaper option and left it in situ to send its poisonous gases up through the land, which prevents the grass from growing during the cold months.
Considering it is JJ who has come forwards to talk about the pitch, and he makes reference to the Wigan Athletic Head Groundsman working with turf consultants would strongly suggest to me that the football club have paid for it to be relaid. It’s more in the interests of the football club to have a decent playing surface than the rugby club anyway.
Or maybe Graham Barrow. He has a hell of a lot to do with the team and coaching and knows the game especially at this level like the back of his hand.
I would say more parkinson than Barrow
Bit of both I think.Barrow spends the first half at home up in the rafters and is in constant communication with Parkinson.
A great example of direct football but could anyone watch football like that every week? Here you go. Fill your boots.
Is it just me that thought he was dogshit?Nope. I’m with you on that.
Superb. .Colclough now officially wigan player
You fekin beauty!!!!!!!! :cheer:
Well chuffed with them two signings ( Cowie must be further down the pecking order now ). This is beginning to feel good, because normally we dick about until 23:00 hours on the last day of the transfer window; then claim to have lost out at the last moment. So now 3 of our targets in the bag, with time to spare. :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
Two very good signings in my opinion.I think the difference this time is we’re the big boys in this division – offering the highest salaries, and we’re also at the top of the league and looking a good bet for promotion, so players actually want to join us and it’s not a case of them holding out for a better offer then opting for us at the last minute when all other options are closed.
Plus, this time we aren’t relying on selling one of other players to generate the cash.
Liked Lozzy’s post, so I’ve added my own:Full marks if you got Chris McCann
