Why has this thread changed to comments about Whelan, FFS give it a break and get back on topic ..

Because someone with an axe to grind almost always brings it round to alleging stuff he has no evidence or proof of.

Anyway, back on topic and I hope Blackpool lose their play off so we could make an approach for Bowyer. I think he’s the best option by a long way.

I would imagine Monk is heading up to the North East.

I’m fine with the price increase for adults. Last season was a one-off (whoever heard of a club reducing season ticket prices after promotion eh?)

But, I don’t agree with the kids’ prices.

We have a small fanbase, and even in our own town we are competing with Man U, Liverpool, Wigan RL etc.

At 9-12 years most kids are forming loyalties towards football teams. Capture them at that age and you capture them for life. Fail to capture them now, and they’ll be wearing United shirts at The Black Bull in front of Al Jazeera Sports on Saturday afternoons in a few years.

The club should be doing everything to capture those kids.

By all means put the adult prices up in the West and East, but offer free tickets for all kids under 12 in every stand, and if you want to create something in the South Stand, heavily discount the adult tickets in that stand.

I’ll be getting my lad (and possibly his mate) a season ticket in the West Stand. I’d prefer not to pay £69 a ticket, but he’s hooked, and in the South Stand he wouldn’t get to sit near the benches, or to run down to the tunnel at the end or annoy people like Griff and Sammy at half time.

So I totally understand what GL and some of what Vat are saying (apart from the bit about waiting to see who comes in. I’ll be there no matter what).

I think it’s people who don’t have kids who aren’t seeing the problem, standish.

Another thing is, I can see.there being a lot of midweek games and forking out on kids season tickets when they will probably miss a few games is one of my problems with it.

The adult prices are FINE, I’ve no problem with £300. But I am not being cajoled into.the south stand due to the reasons I’ve said, mainly my dad’s eyesight…he struggled to watch ‘down pitch’ last season.

It would be good if someone put it to the club about extending the kid goes free, or a lot cheaper deal, to ALL stands.

Let’s capture those kids again. Only about 4 years ago, we had the biggest percentage of.young supporters to home fans ratio in the country. We’ve lost a lot of that. My youngest, 8, is going on about United more and more and his school have already tried to entice him to rugby league…free warriors tickets and coaching sessions etc. Flip! I don’t want that to happen!!!!

What I would like for my season ticket deal: adults? Not a problem. £300 is very good. We want to sit top of East Stand, maybe ES5 or 6, 2 adults and 2 kids. I’d be happy paying up to £700 for all of us. But anymore is too much.

If someone can mention the ALL stands kids idea to the club……
Why do you want to sit at the top of the East Stand if your dad’s eyesight is so bad? Why not sit a bit closer?

We only shifted 9,000 season tickets (including the free ones for kids) last year.

Sticking a minimum 40% hike on last years’ price after a season of failure is really not going to create a stampede to the DW Ticket office!

They’ll be lucky to shift 5,000 season tickets this time round.

And knocking 40% off after a season of success didn’t create one either in a division higher. I really do despair of our so called supporters at times.

It’s not actually a hike though is it? It’s going back to what it was a couple of years after you were rewarded for promotion by a one off discounted price last year. Did you complain when you got a huge discount last year?

In paper today that it’s between Jones of Luton and Clarke of Bristol Rovers.

I’m sorry, but if true, I really despair.

It’s an absolute crock, and nobody will convince me otherwise.

Playing one up front hasn’t been the problem. The problem has been play too many midfielders in the same mould. A lone striker should never be left as isolated as ours has this season.

What a sad thread this is and it seems to show some of our fans, even long term ones, as being more than spoilt. I don’t think any club has given it’s supporters more value for money over the years than Wigan Athletic, but a crap season and you can’t see people for dust. Every team has lousy season, most teams have more lousy seasons than we do. Just man up you soft sods.

There was an incident in the tunnel at half time in the barnsley game, I believe Morsy had a bit of a scrap and Barrow had to get involved. He’s not played him since then.

He’d be one of first on my team sheet and captain if Warnock didn’t play. A midfielder who has a dig when he gets chance. Keep him and he will be epic next season.

Perhaps he’s a disruptive influence – a poor man’s Joey Barton. It may explain why GC shipped him off on loan.

I think he’ll be peddled this summer – perhaps something was written into his contract that he signed in January to the effect that he could leave for X amount if we were relegated.
Yep, seem to remember some chat when he first arrived; like him being tazerd by the plod whilst he was up a tree. Could be Zaki No2.
I think that was Colclough.
