Isn’t Danny Simpson the one going out with Tulisa?
Nice one if the rumour turns out to be true & it goes through. She’s on my “list” so if I bump into her under the West Stand I can get it on with her in the bogs & the missus can’t cite infidelity in the divorce papers :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
Have a word with yourself man!
Its not often it happens but I agree with Tyldsley.
I just couldnt turn down a classy bird like that.
To be fair I did prefer her when she looked a bit dirtier   but since she’s been on X-Factor she’s tried to reinevnt herself as some classy chick & it don’t suit her
She suffered the ultimate humiliation of being removed from my list late last year but it’s a very fluid list & she’s straight back on it if there’s a chance of our eyes meeting across the concourse as she tucks into her half-time cheese & onion pie :silly: :silly:Or it might have somet to do with the train derailment & fire in Salford yesterday.
There are trains cancelled left right & centre going towards Manchester at present.
From what I can gather it was near Regent’s Road which I think is the track that (at some point) runs parallel to the M602 so whether it is also affecting trains that run on the Wallgate line through Salford Crescent & Salford Central I don’t know as those trains go to Victoria & not Piccadilly don’t they?Isn’t Danny Simpson the one going out with Tulisa?

The incident actually reminded me of a game (I think) in Latics 3rd div championshp winning season.
Latics were away at Hartlepool & the game was a right snorefest until relatively late on when the ball ran out of play behind the goal in front of the away end & Gavin Johnson felt a photographer sat there was trying to deliberately prevent him from getting the ball so he shoved him over & booted all his camera gear – he got booked for itAlso I was never a ball boy but I did steward & I was once put on the perimeter wall where the entrance to the St Andrew’s stand was. It must have been in the 93/94 season & in injury time the score was 3-2 to Latics when the ball rolled out of play straight towards me. The Latics fans near me all shouted out me to kick it away but I thought I’d get sacked for that so I didn’t kick it to the onrushing Crewe player but just stood there & let it roll behind me. I moved out of the way to let him pick it up & Crewe went straight down the other end & scored – still gutted about it to this day & wish I’d just booted it away & over the Town End
My opinion of the incident is that when the ball nitially goes out of play the ball boy is deliberately trying to waste time as he is bending down “trying” to pick up the ball.
This clearly annoys Hazard who shoves himin the back. Not violently but with enough force that would knock most people over who are in that position.
Once he falls onto the ball the lad then wastes more time as he lies on it.
The kick from Hazard (IMHO) is designed to both get the ball AND kick the lad & he’s “successful” in that. He’s rightly been sent off & regardless of the fact both have apologised to each other for their part in it, if the FA believe what I do then I feel he deserves a longer ban as, if he has meant to kick the lad & the ball, technically it is assault & in that sense is comparable to what Cantona did at Palace in the 90’s
Ball boys time waste all the time – I remember reading under Pardew in the away leg of the play offs, when they’d clearly been instructed not to even get the ball when it went out for a Latics throw whilst they were leggign it & wiping the ball down for Reading throws. Kevin Nicholls wouldn’t have been justified to walk up to one of them & boot him oneThe big difference is that people in Bradford support both teamsI don’t think it’s a case of saying they support both teams coz some football fans just don’t like rugby league as a sport & vice versa. I also don’t think that they’ll be that many more from one club who actively pay to watch the other club just coz it’s too expensive.
What you don’t seem to have is the animosity between the 2 hardcore sets of fans that we have in Wigan – I know both clubs have helped each other out in the past – Bradford Northern let City play at Odsall after the Valley Parade fire disaster & City let the Bulls play at Valley Parade when Odsall was being done up so maybe they just don’t have the historical bad blood there for whatever reason (I remember buying a programme at Tranmere in the early 90’s & it had a quote in it from a Wigan Athletic manager saying “They don’t like them & they certainly don’t like us” from the 1950’s so it goes back a bit).Incidentally I went past the Odsall ground last year on my way to Bradford Park Avenue (who play virtually next door) – what an absolutely fecking huge site that is yet you can barely see the stadium from street level. Built on an extinct volcano apparently
I totally agree imagine Bradford in Europe which could be possible if Chelsea beat the Swans and finish in the top 4
By that logic, we would have got in to Europe when Manchester United beat us in the league cup final. You’re getting confused with the FA Cup.
Am I your going on filadelphias list now you rotter but it was said on talkshyte that if that was the case a Chelsea /Bradford final and should Chelsea finish top four Bradford would be in Europe if I’m wrong blame them
It used to be the case that the runner up got into Europe if the winners had qualified by some other route but they changed it the year Latics got to the final – b*****ds!!
You are wrong. In the event of that likely scenario then the next best placed club in the Prem would go into the Europa League !
Correct. You have to win the league cup to be in Europe.
Aye, was there not scaffold around the front of the stage with a big fat bloke with a 30mm spanner in the back pocket of his jeans on guard? They weren’t on stage long if i remember rightly, never seen as many police cars/vans as got called down Melverley Street that night…good days tho.I wasn’t a fan of the Macc Lads as I’m a big believer in the adage that music & comedy shouldn’t mix – and on top of that I thought their music was $h!te & they weren’t funny.
However one of my mates was a massive fan of their & I did watch some of their live videos when he was trying to convert me into liking em.
Wasn’t the big fat bouncer bloke they used to take round with them called Ben Nevis? I remember em inviting him up on stage at whichever show the video was from & inviting him to show the audience “your belly & your @r$e” – both were quite big from what i rememberIncidentally I also went to my first gig at the GM Buses Transport Club – Carcass in early 1990 & was also at the Green Day gig there in December 1991 although I’d gone to watch the local band Jailcell Recipes. There were some cracking gigs at that place
Difficult to say what the chances are of this game getting called off. Ordinarily I would have said that there would be no chance of the game going ahead but they did manage to play at Moss Rose on Saturday after the heavy snowfall on the Friday
Also, I’m told that the snow acts as an insulator & prevents the ground freezing up so if they time the clearing up right they could be okay.
And I’m getting the impression that this “MatureDatingUK” site is a bit iffy
When i come on this site from my home PC apparently the lovely Rebecca lives just 3 miles away. However, when I travel to work 15 miles away, log on here using a PC in Liverpool for an organisation that (from what I can gather) uses an IP address based in London then she’s still only 3 miles away – I’m starting to think that she’s stalking meIf I “HAD” to choose on pain of death then i would pick option A.
Like others have said though, I see no reason whatsoever why it should have to be either or.
I would like to see Bobby put out his strongest available team in both games – it isn’t gonna happen though & both he & his chairman are obviously more than happy with that approach so fair play to them.
Not going on a full blooded darkside rant here or nothing but I don’t like it however & whilst this outlook on the cups continues & its used purely as a squad development exercise then I won’t be handing over any of my hard earned to watch the club in these competitionsCertain players can be made to look bad because those around them simply dont read the said players thoughts.Jeff was castigated at times for doing something good because his teammate was too slow or to clumsy to finish off Jeffs good work.Gomez suffers the same at times.I think if you put Jordi in a team full of quality players you would see a different Gomez.I really liked Jeff , he took loads of stick at times but kept on doing his bit.
I had same the argument with Tyldesley Latic a while back.
I totally agree with that if you put Gomez in a good side he’d look a great player.
And I’ll have to disagree – again.
I don’t think Gomez warrants the stick he gets & I think the last couple of games I’ve seen when he’s come on as sub (Arsenal & United) have led to an improvement in Latics performance, but he is no more than an average squad player going off what I’ve seen of him over the last 3 & a half years (IMO of course)
To say he’d look a great player in say Man United’s side or a “good” side like Everton is IMO stretching the boundaries of reality somewhat though.
He is a bit part player for Wigan Athletic because that’s where his talent deserves to be. We’ve got no club’s knocking on the door wanting to sign him because they think that whilst he looks average for Latics with their better players he’ll become good. He didn’t make it at Barcelona which is nothing to be ashamed of but he’ll have been surrounded by “great” players so by this theory they’d have brought his game on. He then went to Espanyol who at the time were a half decent side & he didn;t make it there either.
In fact he only came to prominence when he started playing lower level English football with & against players who were of a lower standard than those he currently plays with & against.
I don’t see him getting stick coz he tries to play a visionary ball that his colleagues are too dumb to read, I see him getting stick because (at times) he’s too slow & pedestrian both in mind & body to take advantage of situations which can result in either Latics attacks breaking down or the opposition being able to get back & defend. I know some say he rarely gives the ball away but I see him getting caught in possession as he holds play up more than some others. And yes he also gets stick coz he can appear to be unwilling to go into 50-50 challenges.Just my opinion like but if he was a good player some manager from a “good” team would have seen that & they’d have brought him in. They don’t so they haven’t – he is where he deserves to be. On the bench at Latics
Yes, I know. As I was typing it I was actually thinking how much of a let down David Graham was when we signed him and that must have made me type his name instead.Incidentally, talking of let down Davids… did you know that, in the early part of his career, David Cotterill used to wear his boots on the wrong feet? I have no idea why either, but it explains a lot.
Full story, page 79 of A.R.S.E.D! ;)
I think that it is somet to do with making the boot tighter on your instep & front/top bit of your foot & (theoretically) giving a player better control of the ball with the areas of your foot you use the most to strike the ball – I saw an article in the Daily Mirror once by Robbie Savage where he was talking about how every footballer he has ever know wears boots that are a size or 2 too small for them for this reason. His feet were an absolute mess coz of it
So it’s either that or Mr Cotterill was unable to dress himself properly. On David Graham, at my invitation (as I coached one of the teams) Paul Jewell was going to attend the Tyldesley & District Primary Schools Football Tournament that year to dish out the prizes but Brenda Spencer phoned me up the day before to say he was unable to make it as he had to go & complete the signing of a new player. Turned out to be David Graham – he’d have probably found more talent at our tournament.
Griff – It will probably surprise you to know that my coaching instructions to my team consisted of hit em hard & when you get the ball get rid of it & get it forward. None of this tikky takky (or whatever they call it) $h!te. Surprisingly we didn’t win
EDIT – in the poll, can we have another option for a goalkeeper who is able to do something with a shot other than palm it out directly into the path of any in rushing attackers? ;)
Shouldn’t need to play the whole first team in the replay. Just slightly less of the kids/fringe players would do it, just as it would have on Saturday. But I agree that this is an excellent chance to progress. And we really don’t ened to change the tactics as Donny and Horc suggest. All about opinions lads, but if you prefer the dross under Hutchings and Bruce to this, then fair play to you.
If that doesn’t bring LMB and Tyldesley out, I don’t know what will.
To be fair, the last time I commented on Martinez as a manager (just before Xmas) I said somet along the lines of “it’s taken me a while but I do believe that we have the right manager in charge of our football club” – and that’s the club as a whole & not just the 1st team.
That’s not to say that I think he no longer makes any mistakes, doesn’t sign some dud players or that I agree with everything he does but I don’t believe that there’s anyone else out there who could safeguard the long term future of the playign side of the club under the financial restraints the club has.Anyway as for Hutchings & Bruce – Hutchings was $h!te & clueless & I don’t believe that I ever said anything else about him from the moment i got back from honeymoon which was about 3 games into the season.
Steve Bruce I liked & I liked the way he had his team set up to play football. The way he had already turned round Hutchings side before he had the chance to add any of his own players in deserves commending & I thought some of the football in the first 6 months of that full season he was here was outstanding. It started to go pear shaped when Whelan ripped the heart out of his team against Bruce’s wishes & I think the motivation of both the players remaining & Bruce himself plummeted coz the stuff in the remaining 4 months of the season was tepid at best.
And yes Bruce did fill the fringes of his squad with some absolute garbage (his fault) & yes he did have the club running up a wage bill that was unsustainable however he was only operating on the transfer & salary budgets that Whelan told him he could have so that wasn’t really his faultRegarding this Eikrem though, I like the idea of us signing a Norwegian. It’s a place I’d like to visit, as it looks very clean, scenic, and I watched a Michael Palin programme where he went to Tromso once and I thought ‘hmmm, looks a nice place’. My Everton mate went there watching them in Europe and said a pizza cost £29 and a McDonalds was about £15!The UK has done ok out of Norway over the years. York got the Vikings, the Military OSE in WW2 got Max Manus, Trafalgar Square gets a giant Christmas tree every year, in the 80’s we got the band ‘A-ha’, United got Solksjaer, and television got the husky voiced Mariella Frostrup.*
*and yes, I would. If you were wondering. ;)
I went to Norway with the missus once & I can confirm that it is ridiculously expensive in comparison to Blighty – we went out on New Years Day evening for somet to eat, could only find a Hard Rock Cafe, ordered burger & chips & veggie burger & chips for us, plus 2 drinks each & it came to the best part of £60. The first pint I bought in a pub called The Churchill was the equivalent of £7.
That said we got talking to a bloke who owned a dry cleaners & he said that the woman who worked at the counter in his shop earnt the equivalent of £35k a year so they don’t think it is expensive
There’s a lot of places/bars/restaurants called Chruchill & the like as the govt & people seem grateful for the British efforts over there in WWII. I think that’s also why they send the Crimbo tree over to Trafalgar Square every yearA lot of places in the north west were Viking settlements especially in Merseyside & the outlying areas. Dunno about Scholes as someone mentioned but Skem definitely was & anywhere in Liverpool itself that has “teth” at the end of it e.g Toxteth, Croxteth
Anyway any more updates on this Eikrem fella??
