Should be interesting to see how he gets on in the states.

He’ll look like a world beater over there, it’s a bobbins league. Even Horc could manage a team over there ;)
Malky Mackay couldn’t
He could sign for Owen Coyle.

I’m just reading Riera off to Deportivo on loan?

Who will we be left with and who has Malky got in mid as a Jan purchase upfront?

In all likelihood it will be somebody he has worked with before.
Any gems from his Cardiff or Watford days?

No sympathy whatsoever with these ‘ part time ‘ supporters they had plenty of time to purchase the ridiculously low priced tickets that were even cheaper than the season ticket per game price.
Total stupidity by these people ,they no doubt wanted to climb back on the dreadful misfiring band wagon after they heard the Leeds result but to roll up at the last minute at a club with few working staff defies belief.
No doubt some of the 5000 that have deserted the club since we were relegated .
hope you all froze your nackers off!!!!

If there is a bandwagon after beating Leeds what will happen if we ever win 2 in a row?

Espinoza is on his way. Interesting quote from him and suggests others will follow.
We are starting to see the shaping of Malkay’s squad. Let’s see who will leave and come in. We are in a transition period…..again.

“There’s been a lot of changes going on with the team and managers, and obviously that’s been tough both for me and some other players.

“I decided it was time, I spoke to some of the directors here, they all did their best to help me and I thank them for that.”

To compare him with Ellington (a man who managed to average almost a goal every two games for us) is ridiculous. Though I would agree he has limited opportunities on the chances he has had he has looked slow with a poor touch and to most watching has looked out of his depth. Rosler and Mackay also must have watched him day in day out and decided he isn’t the answer. Surely of he was setting the world alight he would be playing in front of Fortune!

Couldn’t agree more with that, so I’ll say nowt!! ;)
The game has moved on a lot since Duke was with us so I agree you cannot compare the two in any way. Duke did score loads of goals just as Fortune and Holt did before they came to us. They played in a tandem front 2 and profitted from their strike partner. Had Nathan still been with us the following seasons his strike rate would have gone down as it showed when he left. His stock plummeted when he went and he was never the great player we saw again. The modern frontman is a different animal nowadays and we may not see the likes of Ellington and Roberts unless the game reverts back to a more British style of playing.
Have you checked Fortune’s goalscoring reconrd before he joined us?
Eg, 11 goals in 80 games for West Brom and at least 3 of these were against us.

On a more general point, some forwards score wherever they go until they reach their level. Other forwards fit at a certain club or system.
We can’t afford a proven Championship striker such as Rhodes or McCormack and we can’t find one that fits into our system and scores goals yet. Delort was an expensive risk in terms of our budget, but none of us know the reason why he hasn’t been given a proper chance so far.
If he is to move on then maybe Mackay is looking for a replacement he believes can fit into his way of playing.

Speculation and personally I’ll wait a few more weeks to make a judgement which way our team is heading on the pitch.

They should just start with the worst and most clear offences.

Eg. The attacking player clearly changes the direction of his leg to make contact with the defender or a theotrical dive with clear daylight between the players.

These are clear-cut offences and as the process develops it will be clearer how to handle more borderline cases.

Technology such as hotspot would be great to determine contact, but I guess you’d need too many cameras.
Otherwise the players can wear a special gimp suit that can determine whether contact was made or not!!

not forgetting that he was a Director at Latics for a while after Whelan bought the club.

I always worry when I see the term “panel of experts”?
Experts on diving would have to be ex-players, who could call on their own game experience as well as looking at the footage.

It could potentially work in the Premier League where there are many camera angles, but it would be difficult to implement in the lower leagues.

I like Maloney as a player, but mainly for fitness reasons we only saw the best with him for a short time.
I would be surprised if another contract offer was even on the table. His wage demands will be too high for us right now and his fitness is questionable.
My hope is that he stays fit and contributes to our climb up the table until his contract runs out.

That sounds about right. I’m sure the lad will be after one last pay day if he can get it. A couple of years as an Everton back-up player may be just what he wants.
Or maybe 1 year playing in Malaysia is on the horizon.
I guess he was being polite to the interviewer.

Next the papers will be calling everyone in the stadium tomorrow racist. I hope whelan locks the journos out of the dw tomorrow. I think weve had enough publicity for one week.

Vincent Tan is already talking along those lines.

Whelan is old school and set in his ways which isn’t a crime in my view! Loads of people of that ilk still say ‘Chinky’ instead of Chinese when talking about Chinese takeaways, I know I do! Loads of folk still refer to Jewish people being careful with money, why is that offensive? I have told a few ‘Jewish’ jokes over the years! There is an issue with the homophobic and racist remarks though that cannot simply be brushed under the carpet. The FA should make a decision on what they are going to do and quickly, then we can get on with the game of football!

Because the “Jews” and the “Chinks” find it offensive, that’s why!!!

Listen, I’m no PC prude and I use that kind of language all the time. But I am not the public face of a major public institution whose every word is analysed and pulled to pieces.

I really have no issue with me, you or him saying these things in the privacy of his own home but he surely needs to realise that – whether we like it or not – society no longer deems that kind of language/attitude to be acceptable.
Privacy – it doesn’t exist; ask Malky, his texts are a private non verbal conversation.
I believe Malky was using a company phone. If so, his texts weren’t private and were the property of his company.

Is it blind faith or just plain silly ?
I just have a gut feeling we will turn this around with malky in charge

Good luck to you, but to me the odds look very short.
I imagine we were not far from those odds to win at Derby away?
What are the odds on us getting promoted? If we make it into the top 6 we’ll be the form team going into the playoffs.

Anyway, I hope you are cashing in.
