Is there a goal keeper who doesn’t make mistakes?
As far as I am concerned, he’s making too many saves.
It’s not a good sign when Carson is nominated as man of the match, as he has been in recent matches.
Was he the only one to make a mistake yesterday? Didn’t he make some good saves too?
They can’t rely on scoring last minute goals game after game. If they can’t create more clear chances, they are going to be caught out sooner or later.
Man Utd have always done alright out of nicking late goals ![/quote]
Man Utd didn’t do too well today – they conceded a late goal.
We still can’t create chances from open play. We didn’t even threaten from set pieces until Holt and Fortune came on. A late goal didn’t save us this time and we came away with nothing.
It was a thoroughly depressing performance. But it’s even more depressing that Coyle won’t admit it.
Coyle started with honest post-match interviews – I think we’ve sent the last of those.
Today’s game at Blackpool continued an unfortunate trend;
Blackpool 1-0 Wigan
Watford 1-0 Wigan
Man City 5-0 Wigan
SV Zulte Waregem 0-0 Wigan
Leicester 2-0 Wigan
Bournemouth 1-0 Wigan
Man Utd 2-0 WiganThanks to last minute goals, our home record looks a little better.
To succeed this season, we desperately need a goal-scoring forward. Coyle has had eight weeks to find one, yet we still started at Blackpool without one.
Powell, willing though he is, can’t play the role. And without one, our wingers dribble without any purpose in mind.
I’m beginning to endure games rather than enjoy them. Nobody can accuse us of playing a passing game any more.
If we can’t play well in the league, why do you think we can play well in the cups?
Oh yes, there is a game this weekend.
Holt is now fully fit and Marc-Antoine Fortune is ready to return. On the other hand, McManaman is doubtful through illness and Espinoza and Beausejour appear unlikely to start after their international duty.
Looking at Coyle’s previous selections, I expect something like;
Carson
Shotton Barnett Rogne Perch
McArthur Watson Gomez McClean
Powell Holt
A difficult fixture to predict, but I think Blackpool will struggle. So at least one point for Wigan.
He can’t take his Cup medal away!
It will be hard work at Yeovil but it should be good experience for him.
He’ll need an interpreter – and so will they.
I think that the people who got tickets – the majority of those wanting one, I imagine – will be very happy.
They are not questioning the priority for sales, the travel information required or the problems with the phone line.
The others may still have a legitimate complaint.
By the way, the complaints aren’t about the attitude of the staff serving the customers, but about the way the club has handled the sale of the tickets.
Steven Pienaar and Antolin Alcaraz both approaching fitness, but Gibson ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament…Oh sorry, wrong website!
Will Holt be fit for Saturday?
If folk showed the same passion for getting out of bed yesterday morning than they have shown abusing fellow fans and the club the last 24 hours am sure they wouldnt be complaining. There weren’t enough tickets for the fans! However early they arrived, some fans would have been disappointed.
And while they queued, other fans were able to buy tickets over the phone line. If they weren’t diverted to Ticketmaster, that is.
Which comes first the chicken or the egg? Which do fans need to buy first, a match ticket or a flight and hotel?
The club has clearly put fans in an impossible situation. Fans thought this was a dream come true, but it’s turning into a nightmare.
Wouldn’t you be more comfortable if we were two goals up before we got to the last few minutes?
We seem to be finding it difficult to create chances and to take them.
The exception was Maribor, of course, when we found it easy to create chances, and just as easy to miss them.
They changed the pick-up time, they provided inferior coaches and then they missed the ferry!
Shearings should compensate all the people affected.
