Take him anywhere they get beat…as you’ve picked Warrington, that might be a good start.
Bye, bye…..enjoy Asda/Tesco etc on a Saturday afternoon, with “supporters” like you we dont need enemies
Think the first time we played them at home was about 83….Gerry McElhinney scored the winner for them.
Isn’t there a vote today by the clubs on whether Pompey get their end of season money now to keep them afloat?
Can’t see many clubs going for that, too many would gain (inc us) from Pompey going bust and their results being deleted from the books.
They shouldn’t be bailed out by the Premier League. That said, the PL should take some responsibilty with this F&PP test that seems to have resulted in such a farce over their ownership this season. However, isn’t it down to owners before this season that they are in such a mess? Surely there must have been people at Pompey who could see that paying the likes of Crouch/Defoe etc £75k+ a week on gates of 18,000 is crazy
I do think Martinez does need to look at himself tactically, however, I also think he will get it right. I thought the other night though, he definately got the substitution wrong, should have bought Moses on to play behind Hugo if he was going to take Scotland off.
Don’t believe in booing the team or a particular player, but I can understand why people do it sometimes. However, unless a player has threatened to go on strike or said he doesnt want to play for us or something similar, to boo a player as he comes on the pitch is totally and utterly out of order and those who booed Gomez as he came on should be ashamed of themselves.
If WBA can wait a couple of weeks, I’ll gladly throw Koumas into the Hawthorns on my way to Birmingham….would take him tomorrow, but dont want to make an extra journey for the sake of that lazy git.
Oh and Griff….spot on, Gomez might be very poor, but at least the effort is there, with Koumas there’s nothing.
12 February 2010 at 12:52 am in reply to: 32 Quid toneet for a Dad and Lad…….THATS THE PROBLEM! #22495£32 for a dad and lad is too dear, maybe this should be reduced to something around the £20 mark. One thing though I would say about the stayaways is should we be surpised (disappointed, yes but not suprised). Only need to look at 2 games over the last 12 months (both evening games admittedly)…..WHU last season, we were in 7th place with about 10 games left and 12,500 Wiganers turn up and same again v Wolves this year, when we had been praised to the hilt by everyone for our performance at Villa.
Anyone who can genuinely afford it and can get to most games I’ve no time for when they wont buy a ST at £13ish a game and then moan about the prices.
“Wigan is a rugby town”…..lets firstly put that complete and utter bowlocks to bed, they won everything for 10 years (and could do again) and didn’t/wouldn’t average 15,000 home fans.
As for our support (and theirs), I think the poor attendances at both clubs is down to sheer laziness on many people’s parts (sit at home or in pub watching it on TV.
However, I think the main problem is that a generation of fans has been spoiled with success (that lot winning everything for years) and us climbing the leagues. Now I think a lot of people have unrealstic expectations, they expect to win everything every year and some of our fans think if we’re not going to challenge for Europe every year then we’ve failed.
As I’ve said before, I wonder if some people in Wigan deserve the opportunity to watch Premier League football at lower division prices
Portsmouth, Wolves and Burnley for me. Pompey for obvious reasons, Wolves just havent scored the goals (thought Ebanks-Blake would get a few for then) and Burnley because other than yesterday, they now seem to be struggling to win home games and are generally absolutely shocking away from home.
If anyone is going to drop suddenly from nowhere to be relegated, then I fancy *Blackburn, along with Hull (yes I know we lost to both), they are the worst opposing sides I’ve seen all season.
*Incidentally, is it just me or when they lose its always firstly the officials fault according to the Fat One?
Oh the moaners will get behind the team on Tuesday, no doubt about it. If Moses starts, this positivity will only last unless he beats 6 players and blasts one in the top corner from 40 yards, should be have a poor first touch, then he’ll be branded as forever useless.
So its ok to be banned for shennanigans with a drugs test (football related) but not to have an affair (totally unrelated with football), o aye, great decision Capello (though the suits probably made it for him).
Trouble is now, the press have found Capello’s weak spot, they’ll exploit this to the full and if Ferdinand so much as breaks wind in the wrong place, they’ll be calling for his head as captain as well. Capello should have said what Terry has done is wrong, but he’s broken the rules of life not the laws of the land or any FA rules.
Two fingers should have been raised firmly to the press by Mr Capello for me
Spot on with that first post Mr Lements
Silly me, I thought we’d got ourselves 2 divisons above Leeds because we’d been *better on the pitch than them for a number of seasons, I didn’t realise that the efforts of everyone at the club wouldnt matter because Leeds get would get nearly 40K in the Premiership, suppose we should just resign now and let them take our place eh? On second thoughts, onwards and upwards for us and leave that horrible shower to rot where they are
*presumably Mr Reid had his eyes shut when we took the mick out of them twice.
