I said after the QPR game that he needs a rest.
The guy has played 10 games straight after a season on the bench.
That said, I dont think there was much we coudl have done about Tevez’s goal.Just need to make sure we play like we did vs City that against the Hammers – they’re all but safe, so might take their foot off the gas after that solid draw vs Utd.
Me and 3 others have gone down this route too.
Spoke to the club this morning and was told Blue 502 is pretty much sold out too.
Have to say, I though the view from the upper tier was a bit rubbish and with no view of the team lifting the cup if we won it actually – will be going for lower tier in the corner this time round.
Apart from the cynical view that club will sell loads more shirts, why aren’t we sticking with red?
Thought we stood out vs Millwall and it’d look great vs the light blue of City. And if we can’t wear our regular colours at our first FA Cup final, shouldn’t we wear our original colours?
Plus teams in red are traditionally more successful.A thread headed London Latics descends into an argument over grammarLook how far we’ve come…
BTW – did I once bump into you in a pub near Waterloo 3-4 years ago?
What a smooth operator :P

Ahh, you’re only both jealous as I’m the one getting a PM from a lonely 50 year old bloke, whos imaginary bloke won’t take him to the football ;)
Still got it.

Despite being a regular visitor here over the last few years, this is my first post, so go easy on me.I am a Highbury based (literally a stones throw from the Emirates) latics fan, lived in London for 8 yrs, originally from Hawkley Hall. I am a female of the species, but know my stuff. I even used to play division 2 football in London (random fact- we had a transexual on our team who chose to call herself Chelsea, despite being a Tottenham fan.
Oh, and I am a lightsider (at the moment anyway).
Anyway, enough of the introduction… I am just wondering whether any of the London based Latics would be up for a new addition to their gang, in terms of meeting for pre match drinks?
In the past my fella has gladly come along and supported the Latics, but since we always normally give his team a pasting (Newcastle), he has got the hump and refuses to come. His loss!Anyway, I am off to the West Ham game on Saturday, so PM me if anything has been arranged. Otherwise, look for the lady on her own at the game and come say hello (can’t imagine there will be many of us there after the big weekend)!
:)Hello Highbury – good to hear from you. Why’ve you been so quiet up to now??
There are few of us going to West Ham – will send you a PM asking for your email and then pass it on to the folks going (2 of whom are lasses so you won’t feel like you’re in a minority!

Have heard the dates for the 3rd qualifying round are 1st August (first leg) and 8th August (2nd leg), with the draw taking place on the 19th July.
I’m assuming it’s pot luck whether you’re home or away for the first leg though, right?
Edit: just seen the post above this…so the play off is after the 3rd qualifying round? I.e. runners up of the FA Cup are given preference over the winners of the League Cup, even though we’ll finish lower than Swansea in the league?
TBH I’m a bit confused now – as Stoke went in at 3Q stage, so maybe Swansea will move up a notch if we are below them in the PL. Let’s just see what happens hey?
From Wikipedia:
“Birmingham City qualified for the play-off round of the 2011–12 UEFA Europa League after winning the 2010–11 Football League Cup, worth a third qualification round spot, and subsequently being moved up a round due to the outcome of the 2011 FA Cup Final.”
So it appears that it’s not due to Premier League position but the status of your success. FA Cup winners trump League Cup winners, but League Cup winners trump FA Cup runners up.
So we better go and blooming win the FA Cup then!

Sending shivers down my spine! Can’t wait for 5.15pm!
I’m out working in Palestine and unfortunately, not for want of trying, I’m unable to make it to the semi :( *tears of devastation run down the face*. Tis a calculated risk on the basis that just four weeks later another expensive trip to Wembley is on the cards so I’ll just celebrate a potential semi win with all these holy folk.
Anyway I heard there was a member on here who also works out in the region and was wondering if anyone knew who it was… and as an alternative meet up to paint a bar blue and white out here on Saturday.
There’s a lad who works in Doha for Al Jazeera, but not sure if he’s on this board and it’s probably a bit too far for you both to meet up!
You do know that Doha and Palestine are a LONG way apart.
That’s why I said it’s probably a bit too far!

But in spite of the performance we still nicked a point. I’ve blown hot and cold over yesterday’s result but have just about come to the conclusion that it is a good point that we’d have taken before the game.. An opportunity missed maybe and it is gutting to see where 3 points could have placed us, but considering the team will definitely have had one eye on the semi:
– we didn’t lose
– we’ve taken 7 points from 9 and which could easily have only been 2 out of 9
– the red card didn’t help us (maybe if they’d lost a midfielder or defender it might have been different)…remeber, we were playing well before the sending off
– realistically we only really have to worry now about 1 last relegation place and only worry about teams above us (of which at least 4 are still in the mix)I would rather we had a lot less fans and feel more like the underdog away team – am a bit nervous about us being treated as the favourites
He should stick to pretty much the same team that has been starting since the Everton game bar perhaps, after the performance at QPR, Gomez. I’d also question whether Scharner should start or at least not be kept on for the full 90 – he’s starting to look tired and a bit of a liability after a season in Germany on the bench.
