Wise words from young Powell:
“It was unfortunate with Jordi’s penalty because it was one of the best you’ll see; it was right in the corner.
“The keeper’s just gambled the right way, don’t get me wrong it’s a good save, but nine times out of ten those penalties go in.”
I believe Caldwell is fit and raring to go !I was thinking the same :{
I don’t see it as 2 dropped at all. Last night was always going to be a banana skin. I’m pleased we picked up a point after going 2-1 down to 2 very clinical finishes and that we are still unbeaten in 9. Rather Yeovil had the points too rather than one of our promotion rivals. We’ve all seen what complacency can do do a team so no harm in being reminded how tough this league will be right through to May.
Agreed. We all know what happens to the teams that aim for 2nd and end up finishing 3rd. If by some miracle we finish 2nd then happy days, but we shouldn’t chase it. 6th place would do me and a playoff semi final vs whoever finishes 3rd and has physically and psychologically run out of steam.
Haven’t we been to Wembley more in the last couple of seasons than Arsenal have? So why is it an unfair advantage to them? This will only be Arsenal’s 2nd visit to the new Wembley I believe.
Re: tickets. – I don’t have an ST, but I get the sense from the posts that I should be ok to wait until general sale for one of the more pricier seats?
Oi ladies, what a waste of a thread. Poor Barnsley has missed out on over 40 posts for the Bottom 4 Bob thread
Unlike 12 months ago, tonight words fail me – but this old thread comes close…
Record of it or no record of it, whatever the result tomorrow we are in the competition longer than Everton. And, although I don’t agree with it, we’re in the draw for the semi and knowing who awaits us may just work in our favour.
Good riddance Everton. Now just the genuine cup holders left in the FA Cup. That’ll pi55 off the Martinez loving media who seem to think it’s still his cup too.

No manager I detest more than “we wuz” Pardew. Hope he gets the book thrown at him.
River Dee, fishing was hard that day.Probably not the only thing that was hard eh Arky?
River and Dee – was that their names? It’s both.
We are the champions of the competition that is the FA Cup.
We won, and are therefore the winners of, the cup that is the prize for that competition..

Me, that’s who.A society that’s classless and where the wealth is shared equally – essentially, that’s communism. It didn’t work in real life and it definitely won’t work in the Premier League.
Yes there are plenty of players that would play for less than Rooney, but if you want a player that’s the calibre of Rooney and that would bring in the shirt sales etc, you’d have to pay £40m+ for them before even considering their salary. In United’s case it’s better to stick with what you know.
And yes, Rooney does get paid more per week than League Two clubs do in a year. But Rooney’s name sells football kit in China and MUTV subscriptions in India; Accrington Stanley don’t.
No, it might not be right, but neither is Bruce Forsyth still appearing on TV every week or talentless goons like One Direction touring the world and amassing £25m.
But I didn’t say that we should have a classless society where everyone is paid the same – far from it. I just think £300k per week is an insane amount of money for playing football. Just as I think it is an insane amount of money for nursing. That doesn’t mean I think everyone should be paid the same – there are clearly skills (useful like brain surgery or not like football) that are rare and not commodity so quite rightly can command premiums. Just as, in a free market, capitalist society, there are skills such as nursing or cleaning that are more common/easily attainable and therefore subject to greater competition and lower prices.
My original post was actually reacting to the word “earn”. In the case if Rooney what has changed about his talent or ability that means he can now earn £300k vs the £100k or whatever he was “earning” a few years ago? In my book he’s not as good a player as he used to be, so how is it that he can “earn” (or should I say “be paid”) so much more? -
