(Shuffles awkwardly on his chair)

Anyone having anything interesting for lunch?

I’d offer to bake some Humble Pie, however, I doubt that anyone would like a piece.
And then you’d have to eat it all by yourself……
I have said/done nothing that would require such action Sammy – you of all people entering this brouhaha is mildly disappointing, I would have expected better.
It was an obvious reply to your post, that’s all.

I take it you’ve never met Mr Griff?

He can pick and chose when he wants to go to whatever game he feels like going to. What has it got to do with any of you lot, or your opinions of how good a supporter he is? You don’t have to attend matches to be a fan. There is no code book or set’s of rules as to qualify as a supporter. Fucking hilarious some of these posts. He has a voice and has a right to air his views like everyone else whether he goes or not.

Wigan Athletic fans club mafia on here, some more than others. If you have a different opinion you are a rugby, Man Utd or Liverpool fan. Some of you need to take your heads out of the sand and try to use your averagely small brains to to realize that you are just another person with an opinion and barracking, bullying and name calling just confirms that. The ones that think their opinion is more valid than others resort to these 3 things, a few in particular and just confirms that you are insecure and cowardly.

“Barracking, bullying and name calling”. Really?

If you care to read the original post again it is not unreasonable to think that the poster is a rugby troll on a wind-up. So if I am guilty of anything it is that I decided to bite and accuse this person of not being a true “supporter” – their word not mine – however you wish to define that.
No one is questioning their right to voice an opinion but I also have the right to call out those on here with whom I disagree with.

Is that not what this forum is for?

Without trying to sound too much like Brian Sewell, it is ‘fewer present’, ‘fewer youngsters’ and ‘fewer freebies’ given out…

            ‘Less’ means not as much

            ‘Fewer’ means ‘not as many’

‘Fewer’ should be used when you are talking about items that can be counted individually, for example, “fewer than 10 apples”. Less is correct when quantities cannot be individually counted in that case, e.g. “I would like less water”.

            Regards,

‘Your friendly neighbourhood Latics pedantic tw*t of a fan who pretended to go to Goole in 1971.’

You are a condescending, elitist, pedantic know-all with far too much time on your hands….!

Griff, I don’t claim to be a top supporter who never misses. Like I said I have always followed both teams. But in my opinion it’s a two way street. You pay to watch and be entertained and judging by the gates there are several thousand fans who are doing the same. For what it’s worth I actually gave up my season ticket three years ago when we were still in the prem. As for the punches at old trafford yes it was a truly disgusting act which ruined a great day, paying 120 quid for three tickets I felt cheated to be honest but it doesn’t just happen in rugby. I was at DW when macmanaman nearly knee capped the Newcastle player, when Duncan Ferguson punched scharner, when lee mculloch smashed Chris Morgan in the face and at Springfield park when Graeme Jones butted an opposition player!

So by your own admission you are one of the several thousand who have decided not to bother which, by definition, makes you out to be no kind of supporter at all really. Expecting to be entertained at a football match is a basic failing of many so called supporters and further admission that you are only interested in watching your club when the going is good.

Totally agree with the lack of quality on show and unfortunately it is starting to turn supporters away. I have always supported both the latics and the warriors but always attended far more latics games. However now I find myself enjoying the rugby far more and so does my daughter, so we now attend the rugby more as we feel we get far more value for money entertainment. Went to Old Trafford for the grand final the other week and spoke to quite a few other supporters (Both Wigan and St Helens) who were doing the same. But I don’t suppose the overpaid latics lot will give two hoots about the decline in support!!

And why should they, if you can’t be arsed going just because we aren’t beating everybody 8-0 every week?

Don’t kow about you, but I support this club no matter how well it is playing or how well it is doing in the league. Maybe it’s just me that’s daft.
Not much of a Latics supporter though are you? Eight seasons in the Prem and one poor season so far in this league and you’re losing interest? I’d been embarrassed to call myself a supporter.

I’m pleased that Shaun Wane has not defended that 2nd punch, as to do so would have put him in a worldwide minority of one.

Comforting to know you are pleased about that…!

If I am performing well in my job, I would be totally miffed if my boss says well done mate, done the business there, but I’m bringing Fred Bloggs in next week in your place, take a break sunshine.

Really? Depends on your job I suppose but I’d guess you’d be in a minority there.

There was also a mind-set within the club back then that the Premier League was achievable and the focus was to realise that ambition. Far more difficult to recreate that same atmosphere and drive from a position of having been relegated.

Jewell was in some ways fortunate to be at the club at the right time when everything came together. That’s not to say he didn’t play any small part in that achievement but all the pieces to make it possible just happened to fall into place under his management.

Herr Swappenchange will be worrying then, as their records this year are quite similar.
Do they worry anymore? Coyle left with a nice wedge off Latics and a bigger one off Noblot.
Don’t think they will be worrying about tax credits or housing benefit or even signing on not like the fans who follow football.
Got to admit the odd million stashed away here and there would be quite handy.

Here you are Donny. Why don’t you have a go?

As ineffective as our strike force is at least they look like they’ve not just made the step up from playing in the Wigan Ammy League.

As for Andy I think copious amounts of sand in the penalty box might help.

Now I don’t know at all what the craic is with Espinoza, but you have to consider that now three managers, Martinez, Coyle and Rosler, have ALL basically sidelined him.

If it was just one you could consider to be a failing by one manager to see a good player – but three seems to indicate to me there is something in his attitude, his training, his relations with other players, or whatever, something that makes managers keep him out of the team.

I don’t think there is any hidden agenda here GL, he’s just not very good, except at running his socks off which seems to be justification enough for some on here to insist he should start every game.
Do you mean in your opinion he’s not very good? the reason I say that is because I and many others, think he’s not a bad player. Don’t forget he has never been given a long run in the team and when he has been called upon, it’s been for various different roles.
Yes he does do a lot of running around trying to impose himself in the game, but he can tackle, score long range goals, remember his screamer against MK Dons in the cup, he gives 100% when he is called upon which the team needs at the moment, last night excluded.

I really think its unfair to put this player down for the impact he’s made when called upon.
Having said that I have always been a Jordie Gomez fan, so what do I know. :woohoo:
The default position is that unless otherwise stated everything I post on here is my own opinion.

As for Espinoza he is often reckless in the tackle so I wouldn’t say he was particularly skilled at that. He has been known to score the odd long range goal but I wouldn’t think that alone would be enough to justify his place in the team. Putting in 100% effort should be expected from every player so again I don’t think this singles him out above others who do the same.

And I’m not putting the player down. I’m having pop at those on here who, just because he runs around a lot, think he should be an automatic choice. There are better players at the club who can do the role he is supposed to be good at, in my opinion of course.
I wasn’t trying to put an case for him being in the team, I was just stating that there was no need [ in my opinion] to make him sound useless.

As for players giving 100%, have you watched Wigan play in all the games since the Blackburn game up to last night?
No need for the parentheses JR, I accept your comment to be your own opinion.

I never said or implied he was useless just that there are better players at the club to fulfil that role.

Whilst the performances of late have been poor I still don’t think his style of play, for the reasons I mentioned previously, is an argument for his inclusion in the team.

Rosler needs to have a sign printed for the training ground “No More Mr Nice Guy”

How do you know he’s Mr Nice Guy. I’ve heard from a very creditable source (aren’t they all) that he’s not all that nice!
OK – how about a sign that says:

“Look, I know I’m not nice and probably not liked by all of you (because a creditable someone has let the cat out of the bag) but you are all going to do it my way or you can lump it back in the development team where I hear they are even more wicked – so my source tells me”

Then they may start to listen to him – there, that should do it.
We’re talking professional footballers here. That sign would be far to long to even attempt to occupy their limited attention span. And I don’t think a creditable someone needs to let anything out of the bag. I think they know already.
