You can’t say Scholes won’t get the respect from the players.
So long as he’s not coaching them on how to tackle.
Then again, what the fook do I know eh?
Bit of an understatement to say I didn’t see that coming. At least we’re not bottom 3, are still (just) in Europe and not yet out of the FA Cup ;)
Farcical but the right decision.
Still not confirmed yet as I write this. The Mail and The Mirror and the masses on Facebook and Twitter can spout all they want, but there’s nothing from Whelan and the club as yet.
That said, I think it’s obviously a done deal. At the final whistle I turned round to check out Whelan’s expression and he had already left his seat by then. As a manager, I don’t think telling a supporter to f*** off is the best idea when your team was 0-3 after less than half an hour.
I looked round and saw his expression and that of the directors as well. It will come as no surprise to me when news of Coyle’s departure is official announced.
he has gone now, it’s on the offical site
We’re doomed…!!! ;)

He’s very good at interviews apparently but crap at football management.
If they think there’s something better that’s all well and good.”I think that’s something we all agree on Owen.
Poor Gomez.
There was a good reception for him from the Springfield Stand when he came off.Not around me there wasn’t.
Coyle needs to sort that midfuield out as there was a huge ghap there all night.I don’t think Coyle is capable of sorting anything out. If someone can explain to me what the plan or tactics were last night I’d be most grateful. One-third the way through the season and we still look like a makeshift team that has just stepped out onto the pitch for the first time.
Hoorah, hoorah. £715 you say? Daddy will pay. Pass the Pimm’s Rupert.
I am not speaking as SLO on here (Cockney Latic), so don’t take my views to be that of the Club or WASC.You mean apart from:
The players Dinner
The 16 times it has been at the DW store in town
The two events at Sharpy’s
The 40+ schools it has visited
The 12+ School Summer Fairs it went to
All the time it came to Tesco before the Cup Final
The many times it has been to WYZ
Plus many more opportunitiesOnly one of these has been ‘exclusive’ to the Supporters Club… and even then, friends and family came along who weren’t members.
I see there is some sort of misconception about the Supporters Club, you know it is a non-profit volunteer organisation don’t you. 20% of the adult fans of Wigan Athletic are members and anybody can join, so I can’t see where the ‘exclusive club’ comes into it.
Each volunteer takes no money for the time they put in, most are there every match day giving 3-5 hours of their time, home and away. Some give even more behind the scenes, keeping the website up to date, taking online coach bookings, organising coaches, organising events, players, bands, charities etc….
This year so far we have raised over £8,000 for charities including the NW Air Ambulance, Joseph’s Goal, Cheeky Monkeys, Mawdsley Cricket Club, Don’t watch alone, Wigan Youth Zone and more.
Sorry for going on one, but where exactly has the exclusive bit come from? It isn’t like we have told anybody they cannot become a member, in fact the infrastructure of WASC (and the core members) is the same as when we were at Springfield Park!!!!!
That’s all very well but I think he wants to know when is it going to be in Edinburgh! ;)
Missing you already…!
…. and Maribor this season remain thankfully rare.Really? I’ve not heard this mentioned before but I was on another part of the planet when this game took place.
So, to get the best out of Holt we need a change of manager?
That would be a bit drastic at this stage, but a change of formation and team selection with players playing in positions they are more accustomed to might not be a bad idea for starters.
It was a tongue-in-cheek remark. It may be that at 32 and some months, with a question mark over his fitness, the reason he looks so poor is that he’s gone! It happens.
So, to get the best out of Holt we need a change of manager?
I’m no big fan of Coyle myself, but yet again this board seems awash with tactical geniuses who criticise but seem to offer no real alternative.
Other than the usual “play two up front” old chestnut.
Hold on, you slagged off Holt without offering up any real alternative ;) :P :P
The alternative is not to play him. I commend the attempt to defend him in your previous post TL and there’s no argument that he did well at Norwich but he just doesn’t even look like a football player.
The best keepers are those that make the fewest mistakes. You’d think he would learn from his mistakes but seems to be getting worse not better.
