Now now, don’t make me out to be a racist. I won’t have it.
To quote me directly I said in response to another poster.
“Not sure where they got there baseball bats from for the attack around Sams/Pear Tree, somebody mention our local Poles might have been involved.”My point being that I doubt they had travelled with the said baseball bats and certainly didn’t have them earlier at Berkley Square, nor do I know of a shop in Wigan that sells them, especially after 6pm. It wasn’t me who said it was the local Poles, it was somebody I spoke to at the match last night.
Now if you’d like to wind your neck in and I’ll accept your apology when it arrives.
UK based Slovenians perhaps, or they could have driven over and had the things hidden their cars?
A similar thing happened in Stoke when Hajduk Split played there a couple of seasons ago.
If that was the case then he should have done his research a bit better.Firstly, Wigan were relegated in 1980, not 1978.
Post relegation, their crowds increased, and continued to rise for 9 successive seasons. Probably their success meant that the disgruntled Latics fans of the mid-80s just went back to watching rugby after the novelty value of soccer wore off.
As far as I can see, they’ve never averaged 3500. The lowest was in 1978, but it was 4505 – that’s a 33% error!
Okay Mutty, if such a low average is not down to relegation, what is it down to?
The team were winning nothing? That’s still bloody fickle, and far removed from the 1960’s and tales in folklore of Central Park with 30,000 on during the 50s and 60s.
What Myth?.
Wigan RLFC, Every one of the townsfolk who follow the stupid sport supports the Worriers.
Wigan Ath FC.Surrounded and playing in the backyard of 4 of the biggest clubs in Britain who the good people of Wigan traditionally support. Yet despite this on entering the football league in 1978 the average crowds for this year were in the region of
Wigan Athletic 9000
Wigan RLFC 3500
So, what you are saying is that in the last 35 years, Wigan Warriors have more than trebled their average crowd, but Wigan Latics have only managed to increase theirs by 50%, despite moving up at 4 rungs of the football ladder.
You know full what he’s saying.Wigan RL’s average attendance had dropped by 75% from previous seasons due to their relegation.
So let’s spin it on its head. Has Wigan Athletic’s average attendance dropped by that amount following relegation? Oops. No.
You’re a fickle lot, no?
Keep it coming Mutty. Fish in a barrel springs to mind.
Look I’m one of those ex Martinez lovers who Standish has picked out has “turning a full circle” and now wants him to fail big style. The only reason being that he dumped us for Everton, having been the manager who got us relegated. Why not stay with the “team he loved” and have a go at getting um back to where they was when he joined??.
Yes you can put comparisons to it if you like, lets say your Senior Manager at work feks up the business through making bad decisions. All the workforce get laid off and then the same said manager gets a top job at Coca cola or some blue chip company earning £250k per year.
Do you wish him all the best and hope he has a long and prosperous career, or do you think what a tw*t, he’s the reason I’ve lost my job, I hope he feks um up and is brandished to line up with the Brocol house posse once a week.Supporters / posters on here all have different views and that’s to be expected. It’s a bit like hating [sorry Griff in advance], the Chubster’s due to the shenanigans that went on over 25 years ago. Many people of Wigan still can’t understand it and argue one town two clubs.
My marker is firmly put on Martinez, Jones, Lawrence and the goal keeping coach who nobody can name, to be failures, just like the Chubsters were at the rugby awards ceremony the other night.
I can understand you now disliking Martinez because he jumped ship. Perfectly understandable.
What I can’t understand is how he was a great manager when at Wigan – and you defended his decisions, but the minute he joins Everton, his decisions and tactics are riddled with faults.
It’s akin to be dumped by a girlfriend and then claiming she was ugly and crap in bed anyway.
Ever so slightly embarrassing.
No more embarrassing and boring as bleating on as to how beautiful she was and how much you will miss her and wondering whether life can go on without her.
He’s gone, get over it.
At least he has had the decency to give us £19M for two average players.
Go on then: point out who has been bleating about Martinez and how they can’t get over him leaving.I’ll give you 48 hours to come up with a thread on this forum of that ilk.
Those who supported and appreciated what Martinez did moved on a long time ago and are currently (in the most part) supporting Coyle.
There are a couple of people who were his biggest supporters who have now turned full circle.
But go on. 48 hours or I’ll set Griff’s lad on you.
Cameron got banged up for murdering Carl Tate, Gennie and Alex.Nick Tyldesley regained conscious and David Platt is still a miserable festering cretin
consciousness I reckon it should be but im half way into a large bottle of Southern Comfort so I apologise.
You’re not drinking it whilst walking down a beach in your Speedos are you?I truly am stunned at how fickle some people are.
Martinez was the dog’s danglers for many when he was our manager, yet as soon as he goes to Everton he is riddled with faults.
It’s akin to be dumped by a girlfriend and then claiming she was ugly and crap in bed anyway.
Ever so slightly embarrassing.
I know a couple of Derby County fans who would disgree with you completely.
Two football fans are usually enough for complete disagreement.
It was a statement of fact, not a complete disagreement.A full survey prior to my post wasn’t practical.
I would have Nigel clough at wigan some of his dad’s work must have rubbed ofI know a couple of Derby County fans who would disgree with you completely.
If you want to travel as cheap as you possibly can. Sort it out yourselves. Or book with this non-ATOL, Non-ABTA bonded lot. (By law, every UK travel company which sells air holidays and flights is required to hold an ATOL)
Please get your facts right before you start making false accusations. We fully abide with all Package Travel Regulation laws and our customers money is fully insured (there are several alternatives to ABTA).
We don’t sell air holidays, flights don’t come as part of our packages therefore we don’t require ATOL. We advise on where to book the cheapest flights. And regardless of this, ATOL is not needed to book standalone flights, only flights which are part of a package.
Keep your hair on sunshine! Where’s the false accusation?
Do you have an ATOL license and are you ABTA bonded? No.
Yes I’m more than aware there are numerous less well known and, in most cases more economical alternatives to ABTA, and the comment I used ‘By law, every UK travel company blah blah’ is from the CAA and slighly misleading. Since last year you’ve needed an ATOL if you sell a package or tag anything so much as a car hire onto a flight only booking. But let’s not get into tour operator licensing as it’s a long and very boring road.
So, as you are not arranging flights, and my post was in response to:
‘Dylan lupinetravel.co.uk is doing 5 nights in Russia for Kazan match for £500 inc. flights. Club are doing 2 nights for £1600’
Where`s your issue? I’m stating facts: you aren’t arranging packages that include flights because you aren’t licensed to do so.
The club’s package clearly isn’t for the standard cost-conscious supporter and shouldn’t be regarded as such or be compared to anything with an ‘assumed’ flight inclusion.
For the record, the post wasn’t aimed at you, so good luck with it all and I sincerely hope you do well out of this game.
The post WAS aimed at people who are comparing apples with oranges.Dylan lupinetravel.co.uk is doing 5 nights in Russia for Kazan match for £500 inc. flights. Club are doing 2 nights for £1600Are Lupin Travel offering an executive trip, travelling with the team on a high standard private charter aircraft, with photo opportunities with the players and coaching staff, a pre-flight address by the manager, complimentary inflight meal and bar service,a drinks reception and dinner with Latics club officials and ex-players, executive coach transfers to and from the airport and to the match, an upgraded match ticket – sitting with the sponsors and VIPs, a bag drop and fast track at both airports, and a return flight that drops the team off at Bristol for their game against Yeovil, before heading back to Manchester?
No.
And that’s why there’s a price difference.
If you want to travel as cheap as you possibly can. Sort it out yourselves. Or book with this non-ATOL, Non-ABTA bonded lot. (By law, every UK travel company which sells air holidays and flights is required to hold an ATOL)
The club maybe haven’t bigged their trip up as much as they should have, but it’s aimed at those who want something memorable, or maybe have clients to entertain.
I thought Coyle would have changed this crap tactic. We have just put up with 4 years of that garbage from Bob so why why why ffs does the Bolton reject persist in playing this pathetic tactic. Please Dave intervene and bring us back a two striker formation even if its a makeshift partnership using midfielders. You’re right. 4-4-2 is the way forwards. Just like all the good teams play.
We’re struggling to retain possession in midfield, so let’s take one of ’em away and stick him up front – that’ll learn um.
.Or it may be that they really dont care…
!
What twaddle!
The word ‘Latics’ features in a prominent Wigan RL song, and numerous anti-Latics banners have been seen, photographed and discussed on other forums.
In fact, when the team left for the FA Cup Final and there was a big send off, there comment section on Wigan Today (or whatever website it was) was swamped with Wigan RL supporters claiming they were going to turn up and ruin.
Hardly the behaviour of people who don’t really care!
becchio is going nowhere and we’ll be minus any strikers at watford. thats how whelan rollsWhat’s it got to do with Whelan?
A good selection.
I’d like to suggest a name from an earlier generation – Arnold Muhren of Ipswich.
What did he do? He put in the cross that Marco Van Basten smashed into the net in the 1988 European Nations Cup Final.
That goal was only a great one because Muhren over hit a simple cross and forced Van Basten wider than he would have preferred.
Decent player but not in the same league as those in Griff’s blog.
edit
Who would have thought that Griff and myself BOTH rate Henry as the best foreign player we have seen during our time in the premier league.
You can add me to the Henry Fan Club ‘n all. By far the best player I’ve ever seen at DW in my opinion. -
