I thought nZogbia couldn’t speak English that well (the driving test debacle)…
I wonder if that guy from Singapore (the one who was going to buy Liverpool) would be interested. He could setup a load of theme bars called “Athletico’s” ;)
imagine if Al-Habsi saved a Bolton Penalty in the 93rd minute at 2-1 to the latics….
couldn’t give a turd about Rooney or Man U….I would pi55 if they started going the same way as the scousers….what are the chances of them both being championship sides within the next 2-3 years?? (I am probably dreaming though)
….anyway, there would be plenty more “Wiganers” saying they were Man City fans all along :o
Didn’t our own shirts used to have the Ancient and Loyal town crest on??
If your bothered, you can always send a complaint about why Wigan Council think it is right to re-do a load of signs costing thousands when they continue to close down public services such as libraries schools etc….
I hate the chubbies but I don’t have a problem with the council doing something to raise their profile, but when it costs thousands in these tough times, then I do have a problem. It will be the idea of that Councillor Mayor guy….Winstanley or something…..said it was the proudest day of his life…
…must have had a very boring life then…
will be a good game but the pasting in the media we will get for having 5k on won’t be so good :(
Bloody hell if you think our defence is left exposed by our midfield line up at present, it would be like the British army at Rourke’s Drift with that line upIn effect you’d be playing with 1 midfielder, 1 winger & 4 forwards. Now I’m all for a bit more umph goign forward but that’s taking things a bit too far!!
As for Gomez, yes he may well have looked half decent against a 3rd division side & one staring relegation into that division in the face but he’s very rarely shown it in the outings he’s had against top flight opposition. I’m not saying he deserves the stick he gets but he aint good enough nonetheless
It may be how the message is formatted. To explain, I would have Diame in front of the back four, with n’Zogbia, Gomez and Di Santo just in front of Diame…all have the job of maintaining midfield but getting back to defend, then the two up front…..I suppose you could change n’Zogbia back onto the left and put Di Sant on the right to give defensive balance…..
(1) The person further up the pitch needs to make space or get into a position where they can attack the ball
I won’t laugh at you mate* and I think one of our biggest problems is our lack of any/clever movement by players not in possession. Di Santo does it more than most and Cleverley showed in 20 minutes or so against Sunderland that he is used to doing that, but apart from those two there is very rarely a decent passing opportunity on. Ergo, to keep possession, people pass backwards or sideways.
* apart from perhaps suggesting that 4-1-3-1 give us a distinct disadvantage when playing teams with the traditional 11 players in their side ;) [/quote]
The power of edit ;)
To be fair, Martinez did say he was going to try out a coule of things.
First half was a midfield diamond (A narrow one at that) being a 4-1-2-1-2…..before the end of the first half it was a 4-3-3.
Second half was 4-5-1 which turned to 4-4-2 when n’Zogbia came on.
3D……its bad enough in 2D!!!
correct me if im wrong but didnt we buy zogbia with funds we got from heskey a d palaciosNo, he put the funds somewhere else and paid for n’Zogbia out of his own pocket..
….what did you expect him to do? The club isn’t in the black you know!!
Well, I might do a banner or two of my own but they won’t be complants or anything like that, just the old football thing of supporting your team through thick and thin..
I think the club is being run well. Whats the point of keepng hold of players who don’t want to be here??
Players will come and players will go…but the club will still be here.
get a grip man!
Great stuff by the club…it’s the only way of getting people in. People are feeling the pinch, just hope these adverts are not just consigned to the website but plastered up all over Wigan and surrounding areas…..I might stick one up at work!!
Give hime some time. I know a lot of people have said he had a full season here but he has had to deal with revolt, respect and a change in players, style and full management team.
I will support Martinez as I have seen glimpses of what we could be. Its only time before the 30 minutes of great football grows to 90 minutes. Everyone in the game (manager included) think Bob is a good manager….and they know the game.
Slate me all you want but I don’t know a better manager who would come to this club and would be proud to manage Wigan Athletic.
