It was unforgivable letting them off the hook in the last 10 minutes.
In those conditions we should have been throwing everything at them, not inviting pressure.
Having said that I don’t see the point in harping on about changing the manager, his job is to keep us up, and I think he will.
Actually playing Preston away sounds far better, this season has been awful in terms of enjoyment.
I still believe we’ll stay up thanks to how awful most of the relegation candidates are. But with each passing game, starting afresh in the Championship, with a core of half a dozen players who actually care about the club, is looking evermore appealling.
The arrival of Cadwell, and introduction of McCarthy, threw into focus the faillings of other players, lack of application and drive.
Thats what i mean all this booing is bound to pi$$ the better players off Zog wouldn’t be surprised if Hugo doesn’t come out with the same in next couple of weeksRodallega has been stealing his wage for the past three months, he hasn’t come close to matching the performances of some of our lesser known players recently.
There are rumours the potential buyers are little more than planted stories to buy time, not that this is a suprise.
When all’s said and done, the big losers if Portsmouth go to the wall are West Ham, therefore the Premier League establishment will help them out.
Moses recieved a great reception when he came on, it lifted the crowd, lifted the team, while we looked more dangerous than for the previous 80 minutes.
I’ve been going to that stadium for 10 years, I can see what’s going on in front of my own eyes, season in, season out.
Up until mid January the pitch was showing little signs of damage, during the snow Latics had a training session or two on it which resulted in a few more areas of serious damage.
On Tuesday, before a ball had been kicked, the entire pitch was destroyed, possibly the worst condition it has ever been in, totally unplayable.
Once the Premier League start throwing around potential points deductions, you’ll soon see rapid rejigging of the fixtures.
It’s sensible to be pessimistic about Latics results, but even the worst teams have the odd shock result.
So Portsmouth didn’t believe the authorities were serious about winding them up in January, when they had ample opportunity to generate funds from player sales.
This whole myth about the football causing more damage than the lodgers is total bull****.
Latics have played regularly through one of the worst winters on record, the damage was minimal.
After just two RL games the pitch is totally destroyed, it will almost certainly need relaying at a cost that far exceeds the pitiful rent the lodgers pay.
The whole pitch was like a ploughed field, this wasn’t a case of certain areas being excessively damaged. It is certainly no longer sustainable for the lodgers to play at the DW stadium while the football season is ongoing, regardless of the division.
It’s now time the lodgers put into action their back-up plan to play at the LSV, the vast majority of their fans despise the DW stadium, and if they truely believed the crap they preach, they’d happily see Latics ‘struggle’ to pay for it’s upkeep.
Two RL games and the pitch is destroyed, disgraceful.
Let’s get a couple of points straight –
a/ The pitch did not lose us any points tonight.
b/ The pitch was showing signs of damage before the rugby season started.
That being said, let’s not persist with the myth football does more damage to the pitch than the rugby, the pitch was an absolute disgrace tonight, it wouldn’t be acceptable in League 2, nevermind the Premiership.
It’s now time to demand no rugby games are played at he DW Stadium until the football season ends.
Does it really matter if you want Martinez in or out?
The fans I’m dubious of are those who want to stay in the Premiership at all costs, and by inclination, ‘won’t be bothered’, with the club should we go down.
As a Latics fan I’ve had far, far more highs outside of the Premiership, neither does a game go by when you write off the chance of winning points, as regularly happens in this league.
We should of course fight to stay up, but come August I’ll be looking forward to the new season regardless of the division.
On the whole Latics fans have been nothing but supportive of the team this season, however we are now well past the point were an arm around the shoulder will get the desired result.
Players with professional pride will always try to prove the doubters wrong, Tuesday would have been Gomez’s last game if I was in charge at Latics, the less talented Scotland on the other hand proved he is worth at least a place on the bench.
There is never an excuse for a lack of effort.
Have you ever come across a bunch of folk with such thin skins, you can only imagine the meltdown they’d have if they recieved the press Latics did.
Neither is it any suprise to see how out of touch they are when it comes to finances or the status of the stadium.
If they despise the DW Stadium so much there’s a simple solution, move to the LSV or Bolton.
