Rosler needs to have a sign printed for the training ground “No More Mr Nice Guy”
How do you know he’s Mr Nice Guy. I’ve heard from a very creditable source (aren’t they all) that he’s not all that nice!
There are lies, damned lies and statistics. We had 62% possession and lost.
20 goal attempts…3 on target.
13 corners…no goal from corners.
The most relevant statistic is the one that isn’t in our favour. If you don’t hit the target you’re not going to score. There I’ve said it. Aren’t I the clever one!
So, am I to believe some of that money you earned as a kid went towards supporting Man United? ;)
Why is this thread in ‘Non Football Stuff’? Just sayin! It’s correct. An under six football team should be in the non-football section.
If Whelan has managed to make money out of investing in a small town club from the lower leagues then why is there no mad rush from others to do the same?
I read once that one of Hyde’s keepers whose surname was Bunyan had to retire due to lumbago! ;)and write a book on the progress of a pilgrim.
Good competition for places now I think.Carson
Boyce Ramis Kiernan
Perch Kvist Huws Taylor
McManaman Riera MaloneyAl Habsi
Caldwell Barnett Rogne
Tavernier Forshaw Espinoza Taylor-Sinclair
Delort Fortune WaghornThat still leaves out Watson and McCann who will be back from injury in a few weeks and no doubt a few others I’ve forgot.
You’ve missed out McClean, oh and Grant Holt.
FA Cup, Newcastle away, 1954.
No, I didn’t, but my father did.Probably Tranmere Rovers in the FA Cup in 1966. I remember the crush leaving the ground when I was lifted off the floor and carried bodily for a few yards. A very scary experience at the time.
”Never yield. Don’t ever give. Never, never, never, in the grand ever, don’t give in never detract from big and small, important and trivial. Don’t ever – give if facing the honour and good sense. »
Winston Churchill, October 29, 1941, speech at Harrow SchoolHe must have been full of brandy when he said that.
£6.5m I believe
As I said, put enough on the table and Whelan would sell you a kidney[/quote]
You’ve really no idea how this football malarkey works have you?
And for £6.5m you’d be turning down the offer to sell one of your kidneys would you?
Here we go the Malky thread suddenly becomes the race & religion thread, didn’t take longCan I suggest this thread be transferred to the non-football section so you don’t have to bother with it.
Whilst certainly not condoning what Mackay said, who felt it necessary to leak these messages? Is this not phone hacking?
On the subject of “God and Christianity”, “our Great Country” and putting the “great back into Britain” we’ve been busy making Britain “Great” for many hundreds of years by invading and occupying other countries, stealing their land and resources and imposing our religious values on people that were quite content not bothering anybody else with theirs.
Thank “God” that’s all in the past then – oh, hang on……..!
For those of a certain age I nominate Jackie Swindells.
Can’t remember why I hated him, probably for no other reason than he always seemed to score against us and it was usually a penalty.
I seem to recall back in the seventies, when Peter Lorimer was generally considered to have the hardest shot in football, that the Leeds team were put through a series of tests to see who really did have the hardest shot. I don’t know what criteria was used to determine this, perhaps who could kick the ball the farthest, but I believe goalkeeper, David Harvey, came out on top.
7 million for Bosselli and 3 million for Scotland, compared to these two 28 million for Lukaku looks a steal.Everton and Martinez are going to be spending c.50 million pounds this close season and basically getting last seasons side back, the best they can hope for despite that massive investment is fighting it out for 5th, 6th or 7th place in the league, madness.
They raked in about £40m on the sale of Fellaini, Jelavic & Anichebe so the net outlay will be much less than that.
Madness yes, but nowhere near as mad as some others.
