Whelan could look into suing Martinez as he appears now to have been very underhand, if he rated Joel & Alcaraz so highly, why weren’t they given Wigan contracts ? Who wanted the fairly low buy out clause in Kone’s contract, was there an attempt to get rid of the clause ?
Do you really think that the manager alone decides who to keep and what contract deals to offer?
Whelan watches the games. Jonathan aJckson watches the games. They know how good or otherwise a player is. They know how much they are being paid without having to look at messageboards or the Press for speculation.
They know the terms of the contracts, particularly the small print. They speak with the manager to discuss with him the players we need, and listen to who he thinks he needs for the current situation and objectives, and approve (or otherwise) what he asks for.
“Whelan could look into suing Martinez….”?

You are indeed a man of impeccable patience GL even though I am surprised at your willingness at times to suffer fools.
Why do women get married in white?
To get used to blending in with the rest of the kitchen appliances.
Anyway, over and out. I’m even boring myself now. You’re on a loser there Johnny! I’ve tried it before and it’s like arguing with the wife, if I remember that far back. ;)
I doubt Poyet’s and Whelan’s egos would have been conducive to a harmonious working relationship.
not panicing, its just the way the woman said it.Was it said in the form of a conundrum or riddle, or perhaps she spoke Esperanto or Swahili? I think we* need to know?
* I don’t suppose we do really.
A masterstroke by Ashley……Yes, a masterstroke to rival the masterstroke of giving Pardew an eight year contract!
I think I’ve made my point clear and my reasons.I completely dislike the fella and him being ex-Bolton is just an aside.
Live by what I said. I won’t go while he’s there simple as that and I’ve been going for 30 years through thick and thin but this one has bent me over and dry bummed me.
Give over man…! Not my choice either bit get a grip. He might be exactly the right man to get us promoted.
the problem they have is they don’t get the income from the SLP/TV rights that we have had, and that is why they in dire straights. It seems to me “the problem” they have has got nothing to do with income but everything to do with living beyond their means, which is something Wigan Athletic, Whelan if you like, has been careful to avoid.
I’m still rockin’ in the free* world.
even though is becoming increasingly less so!
I wonder if anyone else will be harvesting more Neil Young references?
I think Dave has closure now. We won’t hear about it ever again…….
In answer to your question, I sit within eye-shot of the directors box and have never seen him in there, unless he’s done a Roy Keane better than Roy Keane and sneaked in elsewhere!
Hope this is helpful!
He looked out of shape though. By the end he was blowing like a hurricane.Like an old man.
At the end of the match Neil Young was still searching for the heart of the goal.
