They will bring around 4-4.5k and I think we will muster a few with it being the first game of the season.
When the dust has settled and you look at it logically, we blew our best chance in a generation but weren’t all that great.
Our defence was lauded as being something special but we kept one clean sheet and Pickford was probably man of the match in several games.
We scored the 2nd highest number of goals, but we played Panama so take that freak result away and we scored 6 goals in 6 games. We only actually looked threatening from set pieces.
It was great to progress that far and to have the belief but realistically the draw falling apart around us helped us massively.
Didn’t like the original and don’t like this one.
The big challenge for the England setup is moving those from the 21s and 19s into the full squad. Top clubs won’t suddenly start playing young lads so they’ll end up lost in the game somewhere and being loaned to clubs like us.
As for us, we need to sign some Championship quality/experienced players.
Thats the problem with English sport. Far too parochial.
Leeds fans in rugby openly boo Wigan players and only cheer Leeds players.
I was never a fan of that one either
We had green in our home kit from 95 until 05. It can look good as a trim, but this just looks massively out of place.
Is that not because he lost Bullitt? I doubt any of the players or staff wanted to be there at the final whistle.
What about a player who isn’t actually from that Country? How would that Brazilian who plays for Russia have felt had they played Brazil? Chances are he would have gone and given 100% like all pros do. Like Wayne Rooney did for Utd against Everton or James McCarthy afainst Scotland or like the Irish team would do against England.
I doubt politics would have come into it, but as we have seen in the PL and most games at Championship level, a vociferous crowd can have an effect on a referee/assistant and of course can get a side up for a big game and big moments as we have seen with Russia in this tournament so I’m quite glad that we will be playing Croatia.
From a purely football POV though I would have preferred Russia as Croatia are the better side.
I’m undecided on this. Showing an imaginery card to a ref should be stopped & punished i agree. However, with modern technology now in the game, surely its a good thing that a player(s) can ask for a 2nd opinion when the naked eye of a referee has missed something. Not the way footballers do it.
Tuesday night was farcical at times with the way both sets of players surrounded him.
I think he was leaving whatever happened.
Sweden will be tough to break down. They look a bit like Shrewsbury did with a solid 442 that they stick to religously.
Think it will be another frustrating afternoon but we should win the game.
So because it was a push it was red. Had he hacked him down it was yellow like the Denmark game.
Thanks TL.
I thought the double jeopardy rule meant that as last man you wouldn’t see red for giving away a pen? We had it earlier this season when a player was sent off for giving away a free kick but a few games later a player was booked for a penalty.
TL – Am I right in thinking the Swiss lad shouldn’t have been sent off if the ref is giving a penalty as the keeper was there?
