If the club put up the info as soon as they knew, they cant be blamed, especially as it only seems to have happned this week…if thats not the case, then the club are at fault for not communicating properly with fans.
However, most amazing comment of the week award goes to Tea Bag Head for this gem “then they unbelievably offer to refund anyone the difference who bought at £36”. Why is that unbelievable?? Refund or theft, I know which I’d sooner Latics be involved in
This “easy home game” against Blackpool…….now not defending what happened on day 1, but Blackpool have beaten Liverpool, Newcastle and only lost in the last minute to Villa with a “weakened” side. Hardly an easy side to beat even now and we did win the other 2 “easy home games”.
As Edinburgh said, come back if we lose next week and put in a “Fulham” performance then you’ll have something to moan about, not whinging about using 3 games (won 2/3) by November or is the fixture list Martinez’ fault now?
I can understand people saying that they dont enjoy the Premiership, its not the be all and end all, its not competitive over a season for clubs like ours. I just wonder what those fans reactions would be if we werent near the top of the Championship around this time of the year, if and when we go down, regardless of style of play, manager etc.
Would those same fans who would almost welcome relegation, want us to be winning more games to get us in contention for promotion to the league they dont enjoy?
After the game I thought it was a huge chance to get 3 points which were thrown away. Dont know what others thougth, but I feel we would be extremely fortunate if we were to come up against a team that plays as poorly as they did.
Al Habsi seemed to be caught out for their 1st, and Caldwell’s defending for Roberts goal was appalling as he probably wasnt offside. The N’Zogbia decision was farcical, but overall we didnt make enough of the possession we had
Didn’t mention anything to do with disallowed goals, just made a point that I thought he let them get away with constant fouling around their box without issuing a yellow card or 2 which makes defenders think a little more. As for the goals, Roberts was offside, but our goal, because I was at ground level in front of the Darwen End, not sure how it came about, nevermind whether it should have been disallowed or not
Well said Scholes, of course things are going wrong and its not good, but am sure its just a Wigan thing that some people, whether its Latics, eggmen, council, weather are at their happiest when there’s something to moan about and if they can’t complain about anything, then they complain about having nothing to complain about!
*Remembers time when following Latics was so bad under Swain that an action page in the programme once had a picture of Mick Kennedy taking a throw-in
That’s not just a problem with free kicks though, we dont get enough players in the box to cause problems either from crosses or shots that may come back off keeper/woodwork.
6 November 2010 at 11:45 pm in reply to: The Nani/Gomes/Clattenburg Goal. Seen that before….. #50274The only thing slightly different to whats been mentioned about the PNE goal, when Pennock rolled it out, I’m sure the ref had told him to roll it out in line with the linesman so that a free kick would be taken from the right spot….maybe I’m the one that’s imagining things though!!
I did wonder why we were wearing white armbands….people I spoke to at the ground didnt knbow.
Very sad news that…RIP John.
Shall we go through that article, bit by bit….no laughing in the corner fellow Blues.
Clash with Aussie champs expected to be a sell-out…….swelled by neutral RL fans, no doubt (there’ll still be 3k+ empty seats)
Warriors reporting record ST tickets…..their crowd/tickets sold info, generally lies firmly in the “fiction” section
The open training session….it was ferkin free, if they’d charged £1 they would have had 10 people watching
Swansea’s support….yes, superb effort, of course we’re all really jealous of a championship team getting 12,000 at home (around the top of CCC) bringing 4k for their cup final
Salford are guaranteed a huge crowd……I bet the fixture had about 3,500 thousand on last season
The Barry Knowles opinion….has anyone heard him say that or seen it quouted anywhere?
Local lads v league of nations….yes we’d like to see local lads in our team but….Richards, Barrett etc, very local them lads
2 final things about the article…RL fans coming out of the woodwork, well they’ve got that right. Whoever wrote it is so keen to big-up the eggmen has’t put their name to it
Another law needed for us to sign a player…..thats just taking the Piscu surely!
Hope everyone remembers how much its cost the Mancs next time Taggart says “no one is bigger than this club”….that said, Rooney has played Utd to get a pay rise and Fergie has played the Glazers to get a huge transfer kitty.
Great acting by Ferguson though
Been quite a few and I’m sure there’s more than none of us have mentioned
Baines at Ipswich
Ellington at Chesterfield and Wolves
McEwan hit a couple
Tony Kelly free kick v Doncaster (I think)
That Roberts goal and all 3 Latics goals v Reading (just cos of what it meant)
Bobby Campbell v Rotherham and i’m sure he once scored from a corner where he ran to the left of the goal and headed it in top right.
All ones already mentioned by others were belters…Smeets was v Brentford and wasn’t Powell’s v Rotherham?I reckon fatmundo has got it spot on…..Rooney tells Utd he wants away (in August), they have a relatively poor start to the season, said conversation comes to light in October and 2 days later its sorted.
Result = Ferguson squeezes money out of Glazers, Utd spend £50m in transfer window, and either go on to win the league and Champions League, or they win nothing and Rooney to Madrid/Barca/City is back on.
Ferguson has used Rooney and the media to get hands put in pocket and the whole world has fallen for it….having said that Ferguson could say anything he wanted about Glazer and not fear the sack, if they were daft enough to sack him, there would be a Glazer wearing concrete boots in a USA river or hanging from the rafters at Old Trafford.
Sheffield Weds (possibly)
