Where did I say that the subs were an unmitigated disaster? All I said was that I thought we could have come out of those games slightly better had we made more sensible substitutions.

My post was a criticism of the tactics, not the players.

I’ve always been a fence sitter under this current managerial regime, acknowledging the bad and the good, and that’s not going change whether we win/lose, stay up/go down.

Well, isn’t it nice to read a debate about football for once (even if some folk still had to hurl insults as part of it).

Griff – give over. I know you harbour a soft spot for Jordi, but I know plenty about football and I know misjudged substitutions when I see them. Interesting that nobody is complaining about my comments about the Chelsea subs.

In addtion, your argument for Gomez highlighted my point exactly – he didn’t even have the ball to give away, but gave away a needless FK and it led to a needless goal. And we seemed to be doing just fine without the need for Gomez.

I can understand the runout argument, but even at 3-0 up, given where we are in the season and the table, we do not have the luxury of saying we have nothing to lose and assume games are killed off.

Every point, every goal scored, every goal not conceded is sooo precious at the moment. I don’t need to remind any of you about the end of the 2006-2007 season do I?

Facts are facts – both the Chelsea and Blackpool goals came about because of our substitutions and both could have been avoided.

Fair enough if you want to endorse negativity Yosser, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but did you really have to slap that awful smiley on aswell??
Never mind the fact that it really wasn’t that good a post…

It is not an opinion nob nose it is fact. 1 out of 10 for your attention seeking post. Nobody latched onto it and backed you, unlucky.[/quote]

Attention seeking? Yeah, my meagre 147 posts in 18 months definitely labels me as that. Pretty rich coming from someone who’s reply to the post was 1 word and a smiley.
And I never realised that this board was a popularity contest, where a post is only valid if s.o backed you up on it.
Maybe I just don’t like reading pointless posts that waste my time, processor speed and battery life ;) (see earlier posts debating sarcasm).
And judging by the eloquence of “nob nose” and your other retorts, you might want to rewatch some episodes of the Blackstuff to get some useful tips on put downs from your namesake.

There’s a lot of untapped potential in Hugo which we have been wasting by firstly playing him on the left for half a season and then by not playing someone with him who can set him up.

He is less of a poacher than Boselli, so doesn’t need to be fed as much, but he’d do a lot better with a partner.

That said, his accuracy when does get a chance is awful – half the time he doesn’t even make the keeper work. And his work rate is almost as bad as Figueroa or Koumas.

I for one want us to have a few more cup finals against the big boys next season so anyone who is not up for the fight and give their support to the lads can F*ck off and support a small team who dream of one day doing a Wigan.

Maybe it’s that some of us wish that we still were a small team chasing/living the dream rather than the “big” prem team we are now that’s continually trying to avoid a nightmare.

Were you watching a different game Filmoss? Moses played very well whenever he got some space, got back to defend, and displayed a decent first touch compared to most of the others.

I imagine Martinez didn’t want to risk N’zog unless he had to and thought he might be able to get something without him, but that when it wasn’t happening he decided to take the risk.

However, given that Moses was having a good game, Diame clearly wasn’t and Cleverley wasnt comfortable on the wing, why didn’t he just take Diame off for N’zog and bring Cleverley into the centre?

I agree with everything you say. It’s akin to your girlfriend giving you the elbow then you go around telling everyone that “You didn’t really fancy her anyway” ‘Can all the ‘better in the Championship Brigade’ explain what they want the team to do when we are in there? I always thought the idea was to win games, in order to get promoted. Not lose games and get relegated again

Have to say I like the thrill of the chase meself, even if I get dumped at the end of it. Yoyoing seems much more exciting than living in fear of the drop year on year.

We are officially the worst team in the Premier League.

But still, some of you will try to justify this total failure as not being his fault.

Yes we are, but unofficially most hacks and rival fans have thought the same for the last 5.5 years.

It is a shame that we are bottom for the first ever time in 6 seasons (not counting the opening day this season, correct me if I’m wrong)….but it’s not totally his fault. It’s not totally any one person or thing’s fault.

I don’t see us surviving, but I’m not going to pin the blame on just one person for this one season. This was inevitable from the moment we sold our star striker on the eve our first ever premiership game. Frankly I’m still surprised it hadn’t come earlier.

I’ve recently started to watch AFC Wimbledon and boy does it take me back. Great atmosphere, close to the action and real fans that can relate to our story. It made me realise that we are not on our own in being where we are and nowhere near as bad as some other clubs and fans have had it. It also made me realise that it doesn’t actually matter what league you’re in – when you are at the top or bottom of your league it’s exactly the same feeling of elation or heartache. At least if we go down we stand a better chance of feeling some elation again (fingers crossed).

Just think should leave him out to see how alcaraz and gohouri get on for next couple of games. Although they conceded 3 against Blackburn think Gohouri had a good game.

If Caldwell comes back it could be a :auto-crash:

                              Sorry

Agreed – Alcaraz and Gohouri had started to form quite a good partnership after 3-4 games into the early season and then it all went wrong once the Caldwell’s started popping up. Saturday hinted at that partnership being revived.
We haven’t had a consistent back four for two games on the trot all season I don’t think and shouldn’t change again on Saturday, esp. not for injury-prone Gary “the new Kirkland” Caldwell.
